Guru Dattatreya Sadhana

Ekmukhi Datta wearing a white dhoti and holding shankh, chakra, gada, padma, trishul and kamandalu with a cow and a black dog and the Himalayas in the background

Guru Dattatreya is the eternal wanderer—Lord of Yogis, untouched by boundaries, flowing beyond form, rule, and time. His grace moves like a wild, compassionate current: liberating the seeker, dissolving ignorance, and awakening the light of true knowledge.

This Sādhana is a gentle doorway into His presence—simple in method, yet powerful in its effect. Practice it for at least 21 days to attune your mind to His energy. A 51-day observance brings profound inner transformation. If Lord Dattatreya is your Īṣṭa or Ārādhya Devatā, this becomes a beautiful and elevating daily discipline.

Begin with Panchopchar Pūjā

Offer the five sacred elements: Gandha (sandal paste), Pushpa (flowers), Dhūpa (incense), Dīpa (lamp), and Naivedya (offering).

Invoke:

  • Shri Ganesh – remover of obstacles
  • Your Guru lineage – the guiding light behind all Sadhana
  • Shri Dattatreya – the Adi Guru who manifests spontaneously in the heart of the seeker
